Not only do animals have their own cultures and languages, but new research increasingly points to immense plant and fungi intelligence.
As of 2025, at least 10 countries have legally recognised animal sentience to protect their welfare and rights. Nevertheless, amidst what is termed ‘the Sixth Mass Extinction Event’, it is more important than ever to acknowledge the rich inner lives and dreams of our fellow living beings.
