Fast fashion and textile waste exported from the global North has become a systemic problem for the global South. In Chile, Indonesia, Ghana, and Kenya, discarded clothes are now mountains of waste and a part of a toxic cycle where low-cost clothing (often unused) ends up polluting vulnerable communities.
That’s not the kind of “circular” model that we want to see! Instead, at The Climate Tribe the ‘circular’ economic model encourages businesses to eliminate, circulate, and regenerate discarded clothing and textile waste. Ultimately, waste is reduced, and fewer resources are needed to make new products – a circular solution that’s better for us and for the planet.
