This week, over 1.5 billion Muslims around the world will begin fasting for the holy month of Ramadan. That means no food or drink between sunrise and sunset each day for this complete lunar cycle. However, Ramadan means more than just abstaining from food; the fast includes negative thoughts and behaviours, making space for forgiveness and compassion. At a deeper level, it becomes a spiritual reboot and a recommitment to our values.
Ramadan is also a path we walk together. At a community level, Ramadan is inclusive and festive. This Ramadan, The Climate Tribe invites all to be mindful and reflective as we consider our consumption and strive to waste less. We invite you to reflect on what you can give back and consider volunteering. We invite all to bring more kindness, generosity, and compassion to the world that we collectively create.
This award-winning photograph is from the second season, “The Beauty of Light”, of the Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) Archive. The Climate Tribe has partnered with HIPA, leveraging the power of photography to inspire global awareness of sustainability and advance climate action. The first collaboration under this partnership is the COP28 Photography Competition, which is currently in the judging and verification process. Winners to be announced!
