Dubai Airport Freezone reduces its carbon footprint and emphasizes support for sustainability by using smart lighting poles and solar panels that collect energy. As a city, Dubai follows the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, aiming for 100% clean energy production capacity by 2050. The short-term goal of reaching 25% clean energy by 2030 is expected to be surpassed, with a target of achieving 27% by 2030.

This award-winning photograph was shortlisted in the Solutions Category of the COP28 Photography Competition, a collaboration between The Climate Tribe and the Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA). The Climate Tribe has partnered with HIPA to leverage the power of photography to inspire global awareness of sustainability and advance climate action.
