Everywhere you find humans on our planet, you find plastic pollution. What began as a convenience has become our scourge. Global plastic production has surged from 1.5 million tonnes in the 1950s to 400 million tonnes in 2022, resulting in a myriad of environmental concerns.

In 2024, the Abu DhabiEnvironment Agency and the Economic Development Department have expanded the Single Use Plastics Policy launched in 2020 to now also include single use styrofoam. These policies support sustainable living and protect the environment.

What are the plastic policies in your city or country? The Climate Tribe encourages everyone to switch from single-use plastics to reusable options.

This award-winning photograph is from the seventh season, “The Moment”, of the Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) Archive. The Climate Tribe has partnered with HIPA, leveraging the power of photography to inspire global awareness of sustainability and advance climate action.
