In this breathtaking image, two Arabian Oryx stand against a radiant sunset. Their graceful silhouettes testify to the remarkable journey of this species, which was on the brink of extinction in the 1970s. Thanks to widespread conservation efforts, the Arabian oryx has triumphantly returned to the UAE.
Today, the Arabian Oryx is listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN. With nearly 7,000 individuals, the UAE hosts the largest population in the world. Uniquely adapted to their environment, these desert dwellers can smell fresh water and plant life from a distance of over 90 km.
The Oryx embodies the resilience necessary for a hopeful future in which humanity and nature can coexist in harmony. With its remarkable resurgence, the oryx embodies the transformative power of human dedication to climate action.
