Wednesday, October 16 2024, is World Food Day, a day to commemorate the founding of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation and promote food security for all. Today, nearly 2.2 billion people globally do not have access to safe drinking water, and over 122 million experience food insecurity and hunger.
This year, on World Food Day, the UN and other organisations are dedicated to promoting healthy, nutritious foods, increasing food diversity, and bringing affordable, delicious foods to all.
As we reflect on the food and agriculture present all around us, from the meals served at our school cafeteria to the fields of local produce growing near our homes, let’s ensure that we prioritise food security for everyone. Join in during the month of October by spreading awareness, consuming mindfully, and caring for our neighbours.
