The summer of 2024 was the hottest ever recorded. Across the globe, we have begun to see extreme weather events repeatedly devastate communities. Air and water pollution have led to severe chronic health issues for millions. Extended wildfire seasons in North America now frequently combine with extreme heatwaves, while unprecedented rainfall has caused flooding in Brazil, Kenya and the UAE. Tropical Cyclones and warming temperatures have created rising sea levels in Bangladesh.
As our planet reaches its boiling point, it will take concerted action and cooperation to lower the risks. However, we at The Climate Tribe believe that hope and a renewed commitment to protecting planet Earth can stem the ravages of climate change and lead to a better, healthier world.
This award-winning photograph is from the sixth season, “The Challenge”, of the Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) Archive. The Climate Tribe has partnered with HIPA, leveraging the power of photography to inspire global awareness of sustainability and advance climate action.
