Home to many endangered species of turtles, seabirds, sharks and rays, mangroves hold immense potential to counteract climate change when restored to good health.

Mangroves can do much of the heavy lifting we desperately need to combat pollution. They can store up to 4 times more carbon than tropical forests, as well as restore marine diversity and improve water quality.

However, restoring mangrove forests is done best when the whole community gets involved.

In the past year, The Climate Tribe has led mangrove restoration efforts throughout the UAE, bringing together conservationists and nature enthusiasts.

Stay tuned for the next mangrove restoration event with The Climate Tribe and experience the nourishment and wisdom that can only come from the architecture of mangroves.

This award-winning photograph was shortlisted in the Solutions Category of the COP28 Photography Competition, a collaboration between The Climate Tribe and the Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA). The Climate Tribe has partnered with HIPA to leverage the power of photography to inspire global awareness of sustainability and advance climate action.
